Of Love . . .

Serendipity or Providence

.

She waited in the cafe’

just as they’d agreed,

trying to look nonchalant

sweating and drinking tea,

thinking of his profile pic

every time the bell jangled

searching for his face.

Nearly an hour later

she still sat

in that same place.

Finally a man entered who

might have been he,

she wasn’t sure,

but he looked around

when he came in the door,

before queuing up

returning her smile and

with coffee cup in hand

smiled again,

so she asked:

are you by any chance Edmund?

He laughed and said no,

but could he pretend to be?

And she said sure, why not;

have coffee with me.

Four years later:

a marriage full of joy

and a happy baby boy

given the middle name

Edmund.
